Sports Video Editing for the Washington Capitals

In early February of 2016, I was given the privileged to do some sports video editing for a week with Monument Networks and assist them in editing a behind-the-scenes sports video. Braden Holtby, the Washington Capitals All-Star Goalie went to Nashville, TN to participate with the best in the league at the 2016 NHL All-Star Games. My job was to tell the story of his experience and sprinkle some commentary about his performance before, during and after the weekend.

If you are a Capitals fan then this would have been your dream come true…I had watched only one hockey game in my entire life and had no idea what was going on! Needless to say, this project would be quite the challenge, but a story is a story and this project was no different. I took a very documentary style approach with this sports video editing project since I was not part of the pre-production or production process. I had to watch through all of the footage to log and tag everything before starting my first timeline. Once I got over that first hump everything was butter, I was able to crank the entire video out in under 5 days. If they ever gave me the opportunity again and I had the availability I would do it in a heartbeat, it was a lot of fun and a great experience to do some sports video editing.
